The cupboard door creaked open.
Darkness meant he couldn’t see, only hear.
Scrabbling claws. Panting breath.
Every night.
Terrified.
Tonight would be different.
Flicking on the light, he saw the scrawny creature with twisted limbs and drooling jaws slinking towards him.
He patted the bed and lay down.
Hesitantly, the monster climbed up and eventually settled.
Their nightmares were over.

This is a prompt from some time ago but, believe it or not, it does take me a wee while to try and get some of these just how I want them.
That being said I have not long stepped off a transatlantic flight so I’m a tad jet lagged and sleep deprived, therefore if it reads like a bag of spanners then that’s my excuse!
First time I’ve started a story in the west of Scotland and finished it in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
