He had forgotten how heavy a dead body was.
Yet the horror of what had happened was the real weight he carried.
The monster tried to rise up and he swallowed it back like bile.
Feeling panic take hold, he frantically scanned the surrounding warehouses.
John had told him to come here if things went bad, but it seemed deserted.
At the thought of his friend, a sob escaped his aching chest.
“Another step and you’re dust.”
A figure appeared from the shadows and stared grimly at the bartenders savaged corpse.
“Come with me if you want him to live.”
So, I appreciate some of you who just met John last week might be slightly surprised at this turn of events :-
However, a lot of these stories are just vignettes of characters at a certain time and place and are not specifically in chronological order. Things turned a bit grim for John and his friend in a story from a few months back : -
Next week we’ll find out who the shadowy figure is and whether or not he can really help them.
I’m trying to figure out how to bring all these stories together in one place but with my lack of knowledge when it comes to that sort of thing, it could take a while!
Anyway, hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks for reading. Until next time.
I really like the idea of tying together various of these vignettes. Great cliffhanger here.
"...the real weight he carried." Superb line.
Hmmm... Shadowy figures are so seldom helpful.
