I think going to the library was my first experience of seeing that many books. We didn’t really have bookshops in my home town. It was more newsagents that had a book section, so to see a room just dedicated to books was pretty special 🙂
The vivid descriptions of the library and the emotional connection to your mum bring the memories to life. The commentary on the importance of libraries, especially for children, adds depth and relevance. Great work capturing the essence of these experiences in just 50 words.
Yeah, I seem to be reaching for different types of stories just now. Not sure why. My next one is kind of a sequel to this so we’ll see how that goes
No worries about taking time to come back 🙂Glad you’re still enjoying my stories 👍🏼
Also trying to leave more time between them to let them breath rather than a new one every few days. And it’s nothing to do with me running out of ideas. Honest! 😳😁
Go with wherever the flow takes you :) I have full confidence you will never run out of ideas ;)
Things are just maddeningly hectic with work at the moment. I feel like I can't take any time to come up for breath, and when I'm not working I'm just wiped and don't feel like I can get to anything.
Thanks Nathan. I can relate on the work side of things. We’ve been in a 7 month fight for survival and it’s not letting up any time soon. So, naturally, that has drained a lot of my energy
What I will say is your work pressures are not reflected in your writing, as every word remains a joy. So, whatever you’re doing, best to keep it up 😁
I still remember the bookmobile and its weekly visits to my elementary school. Mr. Popper's Penguins and many other great books were at my fingertips. And their words filled my mind.
Well, these stories are very wee so I’ve only got a limited word count to work with 😁👍🏼
However, it’s an interesting point as I do find long paragraphs to be quite daunting and, quite often, unnecessary in a story. However, that’s definitely a me problem 🤔🙂
These are awesome. We've all had that warm feeling that comes over your body when you enter a room filled with books.
Thanks very much Jim 🙏

That’s very kind of you to say, Jon. Thanks very much 🙏
Ahh libraries. Books. Physical books. The worlds they contain. Great walk down memory lane, Dan.
Thanks very much Alexander 🙏
You really are catching up today! 😁
At least my stories are nice and short!
Really nice, Dan. Definitely gives that sense of entering a welcoming library space. I know that feeling.
Appreciate the footnote info, too.
(Somehow missed this in my inbox, so apologies for getting to it so late!)
Thanks very much Nathan 🙏

Aw, thanks Dan, and the same to you too! 😍

Yeah, I remember the bookmobile coming to our school as well. It was like magic on wheels!
I noticed that people don't use paragraphs anymore.
