Sweet, tragic, surrender -- the perfect tone, here, Daniel. It must be very comforting to believe there are sunlit meadows to receive us.after death. I love the photo of fields of poppies.
I would say the stupidity of GREEDY old men....
And thank you so much for the shout out, my friend.
Aye. My dad was the same. Probably still my favourite Corries song. I remember doing World War One at school (about the only worthwhile thing I ever learned) and remember, even then, being horrified by the senseless slaughter. Good thing we learned from it eh 🙄
I was never sure who sang it, think it was The Fureys version he had. Aye, a lot of that WW1 stuff stuck with me too, The Somme etc. Horrific. Still haven't learned as you say.
This is superb, Daniel. Also, I’m very sorry. I must have missed this somehow. Thank you so much for the kind shoutout! It’s very much appreciated!
Thanks very much Justin 🙏
No worries at all. Always lovely to hear from you 👍🏼
the image of the sunlit meadow really grabs your heart!
Thanks very much EJ 🙏
Grateful for "the solace of sunlit meadows" in this sad scene.
Thanks very much for your kind words, Stephanie 🙏
This song fits this story like a glove, IMO... Green Fields of France performed by Dropkick Murphys.

Yeah, greed and the lust for power play a huge part in what’s happening in the world right now 🙄
My pleasure. Your story was the inspiration for this one so I’m glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
You pack a major punch with so few words; that’s very fine writing!
Thanks very much Rose 🙏
Brilliant, Dan. Reminded of that song, The Green Fields of France. One of my old man's favourites. He used to play it in the car when I was a boy.
Thanks very much Stephen 🙏

A very nice little piece Dan. Powerful.
Not trying to plug myself, but rather I think you might like to compare this surrealistic take I did on a similar theme exactly a year ago
