The stench assaulted his senses as he entered the club.
Sweating bodies swaying and writhing on the dance floor.
By all the Gods, humanity was a stinking putrid creation.
Yet the lust inside could not be denied.
He fought down his nausea.
The hunger must be sated.
Blood would flow.
So, this is my second of four stories based on the prompt from (thanks again Justin) about the “sense of smell” : -
My first effort was for Sword and Saturday : -
Which, as you can see was quite cute and lovely, but this one, as it was for Macabre Monday, not so much.
I could have called it “The Reluctant Vampire” but that sounds a bit like a kids TV show. It was really inspired by Brian Lumley’s Necroscope series where the “vampire” is basically a parasite living within the host and this is what drives their hunger for blood rather than it being a conscious decision. Anyway, hope you enjoyed it.
Back on Thursday for a more romantic tale. I hope.
Thanks for reading. Until next time
I’m with David on this. Could definitely see you build on this one. Great story, Dan! (And oops, I somehow missed your other story! Checking it out now!)
Definitely see this going with urban fantasy/vampire vibes if you would to continue writing.
