The Critical Drinker (youtuber) did a fun and a poignant review on the new Road house movie. The shallow person I am, I haven’t watched the movie, I just like The Drinker.😅

Yeah, Drinker is great. His takedown of Madame Web had me dying.

I began watching him when I searched the reviews for The Rings of Power 🤢. Eventually, I watched (partially slept through) that piece of shite.🤮 It makes the Hobbit movies look good.

But at least I discovered The Drinker, Disparu and other fun guys. I think The Drinker is a writer? I like how he talks about storytelling.

Why? Why? Why? Why remake Roadhouse? Pfffff. No thanks. I have yet to check out 3BP but a friend of mine who has similar taste has mixed feelings about the show and he is at ep06, not a good indicator!

I haven’t stopped watching it, just taking a break. I will get back to it, but it has lost a wee bit of urgency 🤔

I'll hold off then, awaiting your verdict!

Love Jake G, look forward to reading your future essay.

Physics, physics, physics! Physics is definitely having a moment. 😁

I enjoyed the 3 Body Problem, an impressive production and adaptation. No word on whether there will be a second season.

Thanks Caz 🙂

Yeah, I went from an episode of 3 Body Problem to an episode of Constellation and was thinking the same thing 🤨😁

You didn't chant "physics, physics, physics"" each time Opp won an Oscar? 😂

Not quite 😆

The problem is, when I’m watching all this stuff, I’m thinking “I should really know this” but just end up staring blankly at the screen 🤨😁

I didn't spot a single typo ;)

"...with dialogue that even AI would be embarrassed to lay claim to." Heh, this made me laugh. I saw the trailer and figured it wasn't for me. I do love Jake, though. He's a great actor. He looks ripped to shreds, which no doubt took a fair amount of work.

The first book, The Three Body Problem, is definitely worth your time. It's a total ride and wildly fantastical and bizarre. I loved it, but have yet to read the sequels. We're still only one episode into the show, but I enjoyed what I saw. I agree that the tone shifts. The sections in China (very true to the book) are bleak and serious and visually stunning. The modern day stuff felt a little too quirky and with some things changed from the book (not necessarily a bad thing), but the first glimpses of the virtual reality were just as my mind imagined them when reading. I can't wait to see where they take it.

Also, I'm much the same as you in my feelings around maths. It's not a major part of my job, but there are times when I wish it came a little easier. I think I wasn't interested in it enough at school. I'd much more interested these days and often watch Numberphile videos on YouTube and walk away with my head exploding.

Thanks very much, Nathan 😁

Yeah, Gyllenhaal does a good job for the first hour but then it all falls apart. He’s a good actor and, as I mentioned previously, great in Source Code so will hopefully I’ll be chatting about that soon

I might give The Three Body Problem a read then, as I’m still not reading anything just now, which is very strange for me

I’m on episode 5 now, and it’s still pretty good, if a wee bit more straightforward which can be no bad thing, but takes away some of the mystery. I’ll certainly stick with it and hope it nails the ending

It was the look on one of the engineers faces when he realised I couldn’t do BODMAS that was particularly funny. Reminded me of my son asking me to help with his maths homework whilst I just shrugged and stared blankly at the page! 😆

Yeah I'd be shrugging if anyone asked me to help with maths homework 😂😂

I've been watching the Road House remake and I'm having a hard time getting into it. Doug Liman is one of the best action directors around, but the film has no flash or energy. I like Gyllenhaal quite a bit, so I was really hoping to enjoy this movie...it's not happening so far.

It’s one of those where I don’t know why they bothered unless it was a vehicle for McGregor but, good Lord, he’s so bad. However, I’ve discovered that there a special edition 4k boxed set of the original which I now must own!
